I had the good fortune to photograph this lovely senior a few years ago. These images ended up being some of my favorites of all time. I hope you enjoy them, too!

Sweet Owen
December 10th, 2012I had the pleasure of photographing Owen, my niece’s 3rd baby. He is perfect in every way! He was so good to me – happy and calm when he was awake and peaceful and beautiful when he was asleep…all despite having a broken clavicle! It is always a privilege to be able to capture images of my niece’s babies so early in their lives. And wow, she and her husband know how to make the most beautiful, sweetest babies ever. And we managed to get the elusive “3 Siblings in One Photo” image…whew! Grant, Owen’s sweet big brother, is already completely smitten with the new baby, and Ruby now has two brothers to defend her without question. What a lucky girl! (If you scroll down a bit you can see her when she was about 7 months old…such a beauty!)

They are official!
May 25th, 2012I’ve been working for months on a project that started out being just for myself, but as I worked on these, I realized I wanted to dip my foot in the Etsy pool. And what started out as a desire to do “a little bit of embroidery” turned into these 3 cuties! I had such fun designing them. My daughter even contributed some ideas, including what to name them, and the fact that they each have an embroidered heart.
You can purchase the PDF patterns, supply kits and finished dolls at my Etsy site:
Next up is Grace…
And lastly, Rosie….
I hope you enjoying seeing them as much as I enjoyed making them!

Lovely Reader
March 19th, 2012What makes this photographer happy? Why, a field of purple flowers and a little hill of soft green grass, of course! And what makes my daughter happy? Books, a flowing antique skirt and the chance to “play a part.” The part here being, “Fashionable Young Edwardian Lady Reads in a Field of Flowers.” All of these things together made for one of the most fun and happy photo shoots we’ve ever done together.
The ever-so-proper aforementioned Young Edwardian Lady started out very demure…
But then the siren song of the breeze in her hair and the urge to run just couldn’t be denied….
And her true exuberant nature showed itself…
But then the evening was over, the light was fading, and it was time to go home. The end to a lovely, perfect evening.

Birthday Bliss
March 7th, 2012As we just finished celebrating a 9th birthday at our house, I thought it might be nice to look back a year to the 8th birthday extravaganza. Pink prevailed! We had a fun and sugar-filled Old Fashioned Ice Cream party, which completely nurtured my desire to inject just a little bit of vintage in to everything. I loved working with the fonts and design for the invitation, gift/donation request, thank you card and topping labels, and making the bingo cards filled with vintage images just made me happy! We used blue jelly beans for the bingo markers…a few of which just might have been consumed along the way.
Before we had the party, however, my girl and I had a chance to get a few photographs to mark the occasion. Looking back now, I can see how much she’s changed in the last year, which is always so poignant and happy and bittersweet, all at the same time.
But, let’s get to the fun stuff – ice cream, of course!

Beautiful
July 20th, 2011Did I say beautiful? Why, yes she is! OK, I’ll admit, I’m probably a bit biased since she’s my great niece (grand niece?), but that’s just a minor detail, LOL. Truly, I was so excited when my niece told me this little lady was finally sitting confidently, because that’s the best time to do 6-8 month portraits – when they are sitting but not yet crawling. With this one’s older brother we waited just a smidgen too long, and boy howdy, he gave us a workout that neither I nor his mother have forgotten! Anyway, we were just in time with cutie pie here. And don’t you love her hair?

Springtime Wildflowers and Oh, that Light
May 22nd, 2011You know when that elusive thing called Creative Inspiration allows a fully-formed idea to pop in to your head? It’s wonderful, right? Well, that’s what happened with this shoot. A few ideas had been floating around in my head for weeks, but suddenly the stars aligned and the heavens sang, and I knew exactly what I wanted. Of course, then I had to make it happen. After a quick look at some local and online stores, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to find the skirt I wanted for her to wear, so I made this one up. Thank goodness for a quality quilting store within driving distance, because I was able to find fabric that matched my vision (which is not always a sure thing). And who wouldn’t be inspired by these amazing wildflowers? I’m honestly going to mourn them when the dry, hot weather begins in earnest and they go away.
I’ve also ventured in to the world of craft/sewing tutorials, so I put together a tutorial for the Ruffle Skirt and the headband. It’s immediately below this post, or you can find it here:
Ruffle Skirt and Headband Tutorial
I’m also doing something a bit different and fun with some of the images from this session. I’ll post them soon, so check back later.
Enjoy!
